Thursday 17th November
#91 done this morning and number of remaining runs is now in single digits 🙂
Mixed work and pleasure today ( do not try this at home) and after a long 10k session of hill training with Rob I carried on and ran the remaining 11k to complete the half marathon distance, two birds with one stone 🙂
That explains the slow finishing time of 1:55′, legs were feeling heavy with 3 miles to go, and the dramatic change of weather didn’t help, had to fight heavy rain and a tornado !!!
Route was very random, in and out of The Quarry, Castlefields, Abbey Foregate, Coleham, Kingsland and Frankwell.
The UKRUNCHAT running group was in the Quarry, saw lots of familiar faces, Joe, Sally, Annabel and many more.
Took usual pics and selfies, I think I’m running out of things to photograph.
Saw Louise and then Kate and Kim running on km 7, Matthew on km 9 and after parting with Rob on km 11 saw Joe and Sally again, they just finished training the group and we’re going home.
After completing the 13 miles, I had a shower, got changed and off I went for another training run, this time 5k intervals with Gill.
Plenty of stretching and compression socks were needed for the rest of the day!
118 miles to go, 1192 done and fundraising has reached £1100 🙂
Next one should be on Sunday
Sunday 20th November
#92 the RoadRunner keeps marching on 😀
I expected a stormy run after watching weather report but it was pretty calm, a bit cold with just a light drizzle.
After a good lie in I set off from home at 11am.
This time I had planned a route. Up Ellesmere Rd to Battlefield roundabout and down past Tesco to Heathgates roundabout, Telford Way to Monkmoor and onto Telford Estate and back the same way.
Went quickly up Frankton Close to see the first house I stayed in when I first moved to England 27 years ago.
Got a toot from Simon, Joanna and Chester and many more along the way but they were going too fast and couldn’t tell who it was.
Stopped a few times for selfies and photos but it was a struggle to find interesting things to photograph.
Finished at a respectable time of 1:44′, eleven minutes faster than Thursdays run 🙂
Depending on work next run should be Wednesday or Thursday.
1941 km done and only 169 to go, easy peasy 🙂
Will be completing challenge now on Christmas Eve instead of New Years Eve, and plan stays the same with the 100th run last 3 miles at Shrewsbury parkrun 🙂
This way I can rest for last week of 2016 before my Marathon training starts on 1st of January
Fundraising has reached £1116 and still short of the £1 per mile target so please if you have any pennies to spare please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Rik-RoadRunner to donate to Cancer Research Uk
Wednesday 23rd November
#93
A night run, well was only 5.20pm when I started but felt like middle of the night!
I said it earlier this year that I don’t enjoy night runs, I always seem to get a stitch and feel heavy and my energy levels feel very low, same thing happened back in February during run #14
Was supposed to run tomorrow but I had a couple of free hours tonight so I thought why not!
Had to stick to a lit route so I ran into town centre, took photos of Christmas lights 🙂
Went towards Frankwell and up The Mount to Oxon and turned into Gains Park.
Then onto Mytton Oak up Roman Rd all the way to Meole Brace.
All the way back to Telford Way and a hard mile up Mount Pleasant, that was a real struggle by then and was happy to finish running down Ellesmere Rd and onto Herongate
A few waves and toots to mention: saw Neil on Km 1 in Coton Hill, got a toot in the same place but couldn’t tell who it was and up the Mount a cyclist shouted my name and again I couldn’t say who it was.
Only 92 miles left of challenge and I can now see a faint light at the end of the tunnel 😀
Next one is on Sunday and will be running in Market Drayton, 10k with Rob and 10k with Zoe
Sunday 27th November
Ran #94 in Market Drayton this morning with Zoe and Rob.
They live there and know the area very well so I asked if they would work out a route for me as I was “running ” out of new routes to run around Shrewsbury.
Zoe ran the first part of the half, we went past a few farms, lots of cornfields, the Muller factory, the first organic farm in England and at 10.5 km we met Rob and he took over.
This time we ran along the canal and joined the Market Drayton 10k course and finished on Cemetery Rd.
They both ran at similar pace and route was quite challenging and undulating at times.
We managed to finish in 1:49′ and I stopped a few times to take pics of churches and selfies.
Really enjoyed the run today and having company and someone else plot the route helped a lot and I didn’t feel like I ran 13 miles at all, which is good because between work, pleasure and challenge I’ve clocked 66km since Wednesday !!
Number 95 will be sometime in midweek, 1231 miles done and now it’s only 79 miles to go!!
